Rev. Jim Michaels of St. John Lutheran Church, Monroeville, Ohio, says, “Out of about 65 people who regularly attend worship service in our small church, there were 15-19 who regularly came to our The Parables of Jesus study held on Sunday evenings at 6:30 PM for ten weeks. (The choice of meeting on a Sunday evening worked very well; it avoided busy schedules people had during the week.)”
One class member said, “I have been going to church for almost 40 years, and I never knew all of these things.”
“People were SO excited to come,” continues Rev. Michaels. “They didn’t even want snacks or coffee; they just wanted to study! The class atmosphere was alive with awe-inspiring excitement and lots of discussion (even into the following week after each class) about what they were learning.
In this small congregation, there has been no Bible study for awhile. I am new to the church and my goal is to get people into the Word. I love the way the Crossways International materials are laid out and how they help people apply biblical teachings to their own life. It gets people involved and active in their study of God’s Word.”
