Long-time CI ministry partner, Dr. Barry Kolb, and his teaching colleague, Ms. Cheryl Gieseke, recently returned home after presenting one of their Bible seminars at the Louisiana State Prison in Angola, Louisiana.

For three days, they taught CI’s Bible overview course, See Through the Scriptures, to 50 inmates in the main prison complex.

“This is our third group—and when we do it one more time, it will supply us with a large enough pool [of students trained in CI’s methodology] to consider doing [the more extensive Bible overview course] The Divine Drama,” said Dr. Kolb.

Cheryl added, “Being part of the Angola community is like being back in the pages of Acts of the Apostles, chapter 2. It is exciting to see the church in action.

Their final two days were spent in three different out-camps where the pair taught CI’s The Parables of Jesus to an appreciative group of men at each site.

“Knowing that the average reading level of the inmates is around fourth grade, and that many of them cannot read at all, the graphics in Dr. Wendt’s materials are absolutely invaluable,” said Cheryl.

“And every time we share The Divine Plan (CI’s eight-frame fold-out evangelism tool), we know it will be shared all over this 18,000 acre prison, whether the men can read or not,” said Barry.

They plan to return in September of this year to do their fourth session of See Through the Scriptures, in addition to sharing more of CI’s topical short courses in the out-camps.

Dr. Kolb and Ms. Gieseke wish to extend their thanks to Crossways International and all of its supporters who help to make these events possible. The men incarcerated at Angola are turning their lives around and are being inspired to live with a new sense of purpose.

Now that’s good news!
