Crossways International classes come
in all sizes, from a handful of people to 300. While the large
numbers are impressive, astounding results often come from
small group studies.
For the past 10 years, Mr. Don Shimazu,
a retired structural engineer and member of Manoa Valley Church
in Honolulu, has taught The Divine Drama® to classes averaging
four to five people. Before The Divine Drama® was offered,
the church was having trouble finding Sunday School teachers.
"As we got into it, each student
who finished the class became a very good ambassador for the
glory of God. They begin taking on challenges such as Sunday-school
teaching and youth work. They are retaining so much,"
says Shimazu.
Each Divine Drama class ends in a highly symbolic way. Shimazu
describes this: "At the end of class we make a circle.
We place our left hand on the shoulder of the person next
to us, and with the other hand, we hold it straight up. This
is to remind us of the greatest commandment: Thou shalt love
the Lord your God . . and thou shalt love your neighbor as
yourself."
One recent graduate summed up the
effect of the class: "I am a part of The Divine Drama®!"
